Rest in Peace John Reeve

John Reeve passed away yesterday.

Born in 1929 in Ontario, Canada apprenticed with Bernard Leach in England 1958 to 1961.

"I make pots, and am forever fascinated by forms in space, by the way that potters (including myself) make things with their hands, by the subsequent use of pottery in the ordinary and extraordinary ceremonies of living".

I'm sorry to hear this. I have a lovely small pot made by JR in the early 1970s...

Very sad news. I met John in Minnesota in 1981 while he was spending some time making pots with Warren MacKenzie. I have a little pedestal bowl that he gave me at one of Warren's sales where we were both showing our pots. I just used it this morning, and wondered where John was now. RIP

Sad news. I too have one of John's pots from his UK days. The world of studio ceramics also lost Ray Finch and Alan Brough this year, but what a lovely legacy they leave us with in the form of their lovely pots.

Sorry to hear this - he was featured in a book in the 1970's about Canadian Craftspeople - and he said some very sage things... which I have kept in mind and heart... thank you... it is lovely that he is currently part of a show at the Gardiner Museum
